Modern transmission systems have become more and more efficient in transmission capacity and flexibility in covering different services. Quality of service (Qos) is no longer something the user has to worry about. Continuous availability of the service is now commonly available.

For the reliable operation of the transmission networks, an efficient and trustworthy management system that provides control of all the facilities is required.

SparkView is the software package enabling simple management of network elements. Flexibility is it's greatest asset. It is convenient for local management of a single link as well as for control of large distributed systems with thousands of managed network elements.

The system is user-friendly. Because a data communication network is built into the network nodes (network elements), users can create or upgrade their management system themselves. The insertion of new network elements into the managed system or reconfiguration of existing network elements can be performed on-line. The data is stored in special files, which also can be manually edited.

The SparkView System 3.2 is an upgrade of the Itemos 3.0 management system. The latest software design principles were applied for the new core design; using well-proven design patterns for concurrent and distributed objects. With this solution, operational reliability and efficiency has been increased, meeting the needs for the new challenges in the field of telecommunications.

Hierarchical Graphic Presentation of the Monitored System
A monitored system is presented in more layers. By clicking the mouse on sub-network symbols, various sub-network windows are opened. By clicking the mouse on a network element symbol, programs with a graphic device interface are started. This enables to the operator to get a clear view of the condition of the entire monitored system and a quick survey of details about the condition of individual subsystems or individual device components.

Operational Structure of SparkView 3.2
The SparkView Network Element Management System consists of three parts:
  • The Server components is the most important part of the system. It is intended for communication with network elements, for data collecting, for storage of events history and for security management.
  • The Operator component consists of a user-friendly intuitive graphical user interface with which the operator engages his daily work.
  • The Administration component; through which the operation of server processes can be controlled. The operator component actually controls it. Nevertheless, it is necessary only for system administration and therefore can be considered as separate.
